I'm an Alumnus, Can I be Involved?

In a word, YES!

Prior to the expansion, local alumni as well as alumni from the previous chapter (when applicable), are contacted via mail, e-mail and phone to notify them of the expansion and to inquire about possible alumni support and involvement.

Once the final schedule of the colonization is set, the expansion team will coordinate an alumni reception prior to or during the actual expansion to facilitate face-to-face discussions amongst alumni regarding their role in Delta Chi’s operations. The expansion team will provide position manuals to those volunteers and set up times for individual training during the expansion. This process has been very successful in previous colonization efforts as it serves as both an organizational meeting for forming an Alumni Board of Trustees and recruiting a “BB” (chapter advisor), and as an alumni relations event where networking and renewing old friendships takes place.

The alumni advisors are involved throughout the expansion process. They are invited to recruitment events to meet potential members and to learn the current practices of fraternity operations while the expansion team is still on site. They are also encouraged to attend Delta Chi leadership programs such as Regional Leadership Conferences, International Conventions, and the Delta Chi Leadership College. Their hands-on involvement with the formation of a new colony is critical to quality leadership development and mentoring opportunities.
