| Devoting Energy, Leadership and Talent for the Advancement of Community and Humanitarian Initiatives.
Each year Delta Chi recognizes those chapters and colonies that do outstanding working in the areas of community service and philanthropy. Three chapters/colonies are recognized in each of the nine Regions (27 total) one for the most man-hours donated to community service, one for the most money raised/contributed to charitable causes and one for the most points.
This program is titled "Devoting Energy, Leadership and Talent for the Advancement of Community and Humanitarian Initiatives." The acrostic spells D.E.L.T.A.C.H.I. and the program have affectionately become known as the D-Dot Program.
One of the strengths of this program is that it allows each individual chapter to decide the type of events/activities it wants to participate in or conduct. Those decisions are the result of Chapter discussions, individual member preferences, local opportunities and local community needs.
Since its inception in 1998, the program has continued to grow as can been seen in the following chart.

Chapter events/activities are categorized into six broad areas:
- Those related to Youth (Boy Scouts, Big Brother/Big Sister, Adopt-A-School, etc.)
- Those related to Health (American Cancer Society, Blood Drives, AIDS Awareness, etc.)
- Those related to the Environment (Adopt-A- Highway, Community cleanups, etc.)
- Those related to the Elderly (Working in a Retirement Home, helping an elderly neighbor, etc.)
- Those related to Women's Issues (Breast Cancer Awareness, Battered Woman's Shelter, etc)
- Those related to the Disadvantaged/Needy (Habitat for Humanity, Soup Kitchens, Disaster relief, etc)
In order to encourage chapters to do a variety of community service and philanthropic projects/activities, points are awarded for each event/activity. The first event/activity in each category receives 5 points, with the second event/activity in that same category receiving 3 points, the next one two points and every event/activity after that receiving one point.
The three categories (man-hours, dollars raised/contributed and points) provides an opportunity for every chapter to compete regardless of it's size and or location.
Chapters are asked to report their events/activities throughout the year as they occur. This leads to considerably more accurate reports as the information is fresh, and it enables Delta Chi to periodically publish the standings so chapters know where they stand against the other sin their region.
The report format includes following information:
- the name of the chapter,
- contact person,
- date each event or activity was held,
- who the beneficiary of the event or activity was,
- how many man-hours were contributed by the chapter/colony,
- how much money was raised by the chapter/colony,
- how much money was contributed by the chapter/colony (if participating in another organization's philanthropy)
The reports can be sent directly to Delta Chi's Philanthropy Chairman, Paul Bohlman, either via e-mail at (pbohlman@aol.com) or via snail mail at 4932 Donegal Cliffs Dr., Dublin, OH 43017.
If your Chapter's Philanthropy Chairman has any questions about what is needed or how the program works, please do not hesitate to contact Brother Bohlman.
In addition, up to three people from each Region can be selected to receive the Hall of Fame Award. Candidates are nominated by their chapters in recognition of an individual's tireless work behind the scenes to make sure the chapter, and specific members, are participating in community service and philanthropic work. These are the organizers, the cheerleaders, the record keepers and/or the motivators who stay on top of projects and see them through. Typically, these candidates receive no other chapter recognition despite their tireless effort. Nominations for this award are submitted at the end of the school year with a complete explanation of why your chapter feels this person should be recognized.
