Testicular Cancer

Why should I be concerned about testicular cancer?

Testicular cancer is most common among white males between the ages of 20-34. Although rare, testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men in the age group above. It is considered to be among the most curable types of cancer, especially when it is detected at an early stage. However, testicular cancer even when it is detected at an advanced stage is still considered very curable.

Screening for testicular cancerMonthly testicular examination is recommended for men between the ages of 15 and 40 to detect testicular cancer in its early stages. Testicular self-examination is painless and takes only a minute. The most common symptoms include: a noticeable change in size or shape of one or both testes, either with or without pain; a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum; and a dull pressure or pain in the lower back, abdomen, and/or groin.
